Horse Dragon

Horse Dragon
Medium: digital painting
Horse Dragons are named for their equine physic. They are the size of large horses, such as Shires or Belgians. They come in a variety of earthen colors, with rusty red (as pictured), brown, and earthy green being the most common. Their legs are long and built for running. Their feet have two toes each, which are hard like claws or hooves. Because they are heavy, the small wings on their haunches provide them with extra lift during flight.

Horse Dragons are excellent runners. They have good wings for flying a few miles, but they are not distance fliers. They prefer to run over long distances, and thus live in open plains and mountains, but rarely in forests. Because they are not built for crouching, they typically catch prey by spying it out from above and then driving down at it. They live in family groups of about three to twenty, headed by a lead male and his female. Young males are typically evicted from the group once they reach maturity and form bachelor groups until they can form family groups of their own. A female Horse Dragon comes in heat once a year and generally lays one egg at a time.

Horse Dragons are not overly aggressive, but they are very capable of defending themselves when threatened. They do not breathe fire from their mouths, but rather snort it through their nostrils. Their heavily armored underbellies and necks give them protection when rearing on their hind legs, and the spines along their necks and backs make it difficult for opponents to attack from above. This is particularly useful since Horse Dragons spend most of their time on the ground. They also wield a savage kick.

Kiara Horse

Lion King Horses: Kiara
Medium: digital painting
The Lion King has to be one of my favorite movie franchises of all time. I don't care if it's aimed at kids; I love it!
Kiara annoying

I wanted to experiment with a species...crossover?...and see what the Lion King characters look like as horses! I've seen TLK deer and wolves around, but I haven't come across horses, although there probably are some somewhere. So here is Simba and Nala's daughter Kiara (from TLK 2: Simba's Pride) as a horse! I used the Simba's Pride design, not the Lion Guard design. The Lion Guard design is nice, but I'm not sure why they changed her.

Kion Horse

The Lion King has to be one of my favorite movie franchises of all time. I don't care if it's aimed at kids; I love it! Okay, yes, Kion is from Lion Guard, not Lion King, but same difference. It's the same universe.

I've seen TLK deer and wolves around, but I haven't come across horses, although there probably are some somewhere. So here is Kion (Simba and Nala’s son) as a horse! He’s a colt here, but not a very, very young colt.

I guess since he's a horse, then he'd have the ...Neigh of the Elders.  ...  You know, somehow it's not as dramatic.

Realistic My Little Pony

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Medium: digital painting
I just started watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and it's actually pretty cute! I'll admit I don't understand a lot of the fanbase, but the show is adorable. It's aimed at tiny little girls, so don't expect something grand and epic. Someone I know (ahem ahem) watched five minutes of one episode (where Applejack and Rarity weren't getting along), and is now convinced that it's one of "those shows" where the kids fight and hate each other. And someone else I know said that MLP cannot be art. Oh well. Haters gonna hate!

One thing I don't really like about it is how stylized the characters are. They don't look like ponies anymore. ...So I fixed them. Lol! So here you are: the main six from Friendship is Magic all with realistic anatomy!

Faust's style has grown on me since I made this. Sometimes it bothers me that the ponies don't look like ponies, but at the same time, it wouldn't be My Little Pony if they looked like normal horses.
